On Tuesday testing got underway in Barcelona. All of the teams, except SpykerF1, are preparing themselves for next season. Most of the teams focussed on tyre testing with Bridgestone. Teams such as Renault and McLaren have been running for a few years with Michelin tyres and they will got to learn how their cars run with Japanese rubber.

McLaren's test driver Pedro de la Rosa, running on Michelin tyres for the first time with the Woking-based team, was the second fastest driver on track today. The Spaniard was just ahead of Luca Badoer. Lewis Hamilton finished sixth while being watched on track by his father.

Testing will continue on Wednesday and Thursday.
