A fresh start for Klien

A fresh start for Klien

30 November 2006

Christian Klien will be Honda's test driver in 2007. The former Red Bull Racing driver announced his signing earlier this month and had his first outing with Honda's F1 car on Wednesday. The Austrian believes Honda was his best option for 2007 even though Spyker was a good option for him too.

Speaking about joining his new team Klien told F1Racing.net: "It's a big difference of course. Another team, a lot new faces to get to know. But I'm very happy with 'the opportunity Honda gave me. It was a good change. I'm still young and can learn a lot. This is a top team, a manufacturer."

Honda wasn't the only opportunity for Klien. He was also negotiating with Spyker to join the team as a race driver. In the end he made his decision and joined Honda as a test driver. Speaking about his negotiations with Spyker he explained: "It was all open, but there is still no decision. I thought this was a better way for my future. This is a top team. Spyker will get better for sure, but I had these two options and had to make a decision. My ultimate goal is to race for a top team and to win races in the future."
