Hamilton fastest in Jerez

McLaren rookie Lewis Hamilton was the fastest driver in Jerez today. He finished the day well ahead of Renault's Giancarlo Fisichella and Honda's Rubens Barrichello. Hamilton's performance ended Ferrari's dominance of the winter testing timesheets.

Testing continued in Jerez on Thursday in dry conditions. The day was halted a couple of times by red flags - once when Hamilton went off near in the afternoon causing slight damage to his car. Scott Speed caused another stoppage when he went off in the morning.

Most of the attention, however focused on the Ferrari garage today as Kimi Raikkonen made a surprise appearance in the Italian team's area. Ferrari's new driver joined the team in the morning and spent the day getting to know the engineers.
