Hakkinen expects Alonso to win the title

Hakkinen expects Alonso to win the title

12 December 2006

Two weeks ago McLaren invited Mika Hakkinen test try their Formula 1 car at Circuit de Catalunya. After an absence of five years the Finn was back on track in an official test session. In 2007 Alonso will be steering McLaren's cars, and according to Hakkinen the Spaniard will most likely win the title again.

Hakkinen expects a lot from Alonso, who won the Formula 1 world championship twice in a row. "For me it has been very difficult to win two world championships," said Hakkinen. "When people see Fernando win they expect it is easy, but it is very complicated. I was able to win only two titles, if you can win three it must be incredible. There are only a few drivers who could do that."

"Alonso is a champion and he will be racing with the best equipment in 2007. He will be the favourite for the title. He has the talent and ambition, and I expect him to win again," said the Finn.
