Alonso to test McLaren in Jerez

Fernando Alonso has joined the McLaren F1 team (wearing a white helmet pictured above) in Jerez for a one-day try-out with the McLaren MP4-21. Renault gave Fernando Alonso a last minute release from his contract to give the Spaniard the opportunity to try the car of his new team.

Earlier this week Flavio Briatore said he didn't consider to release Fernando Alonso any earlier from his contract as he didn't receive an official request from McLaren.

At 09.00 sharp Fernando Alonso drove out the unbranded McLaren MP4-21 car wearing a white helmet.
