Super Aguri's new test driver Giedo van der Garde will have his Formula 1 debut at the Ricardo Tormo track in Valencia in January. The 21-year-old Super Aguri test driver will join the Japanese team at the Spanish track to get his Superlicense.
Van der Garde will join Super Aguri at all the races in 2007 as the team's official third and reserve driver. "I will be testing for the first time with the team in the last week of January at Valencia," Van der Garde told F1Racing.net. "The team will bring an old chassis in order for me to cover the miles that I need to get my Superlicense."
"I will be active at every Grand Prix for 90 minutes," revealed the Dutchman. Every Friday in a Grand Prix weekend there will be two sessions of 90 minutes. F1 teams can only use two drivers in one session, which means that when Van der Garde will be in the car for the team, Davidson or Sato will have to stay in during that full session. "I can't wait for the season to get underway!" said an exciting Van der Garde.
