On Thursday the Spyker F1 team announced Adrian Sutil as the team's second driver. Winkelhock wasn't too disappointed on the team's decision. He told Adrivo: "Of course it was my goal to become the team's race driver. I've been in touch with the team various times in the past few days but it became pretty clear that Sutil was ahead of me in the negotiations."
"I believe I can remain involved with the team next year but I just don't know what my role could become within the team unfortunately. I will have to talk with Spyker team boss Colin Kolles about that. There is still an opportunity to become the team's test driver."
