The Formula 1 teams will visit the F1 track in Sepang, Malaysia, for an official F1 test session. The F1 teams have been pushing for an official test session as there will be a three-week break after the opening race in Melbourne.
The official test session in Malaysia will be held from March 27-29. The Malaysian Grand Prix will be held not much later: April 6-8 2007.
The Sepang International Circuit (SIC) national press officer, Azhar Ghazali, said: "It is further recognition of our efforts to make the circuit in Sepang as a hub of motorsports in Asia. Almost all the F1 teams are based in Europe and it would make sense for them to commit their personnel to test the cars in Sepang instead of flying them back to the other side of the globe."
"Most of the F1 teams also have their own test drivers. But the main drivers are expected to take part in the testing session in Sepang because of the official status."
