Spyker to use second wind tunnel
11 January 2007Spyker F1's chief technology officer Mike Gascoyne has revealed the team will be using two wind tunnels in 2007. The team came to an agreement with Italian aerodynamic specialist Aerolab to use their factory.
The Aerolab windtunnel located in Saint Agata (Bolognese) is built on a 5700 m2 area. The wind tunnel was used for the first time in March 2004.
Speaking with Autosport Gascoyne said: "We're effectively doubling our wind tunnel capacity. Our own tunnel will be refitted to 50 percent scale by April. With the full-time use of the Aerolab tunnel, we'll have as much aero resource as any team in F1.
"After four years at Toyota I got them working exactly the way I want them. Now, all their efforts become ours. They already know how to design a competitive F1 car and are massively motivated."
