Bruno Senna joins Arden in GP2

12 January 2007

Bruno Senna has taken a step closer to Formula One by confirming he will be driving for GP2 team Arden this season. The nephew of three-time world champion Ayrton Senna finished third in the British Formula 3 last year and sees his Arden move as a two-year project.

"I believe the partnership between me and Arden will only grow throughout the year, so I expect to give the team good results already in 2007 and fight for the title in 2008. Working hard with the team will expand my knowledge and this is very important for my career," the 23-year-old said.

The Brazilian will be partnered by Adrian Zaugg, who won races in Formula Renault, the Renault World Series and A1GP in 2006. Red Bull Racing team principal Chrisitan Horner, who is managing director of Arden, is excited by his driver line-up.

"This is a young and exciting driver pairing at Arden this year," Horner said.

"Both drivers have exceptional raw speed and have earned their position within the team following impressive testing performances. The whole team will be pushing hard against some tough competition especially after a frustrating 2006 following Nicolas Lapierre's accident in Monaco, when we finished 4th in the team championship winning just oe race."
