After the roll-out on Tuesday this was the first day of testing for the new BMW Sauber F1.07 at Valencia. Nick Heidfeld was on duty to drive the new car, whilst Robert Kubica carried out comparisons with the F1.06B. The programme consisted mainly of system checks. Nonetheless, Heidfeld posted a fastest time, which was just a tenth slower than Fernando Alonso in the McLaren.

"One day after the launch this was a very productive day of testing in Valencia with the new BMW F1.07," said BMW Sauber technical director Willy Rampf.

"We almost completed our system checks. Beside this Nick started with some set-up work. This had a good impact on the handling of the car. We are happy so far," he added.

On Thursday, testing roles will be changed around. Kubica will get to drive the F1.07 and Sebastian Vettel will join to drive the F1.06B.
