Malaysian PM wants race guarantee

18 January 2007

Malaysian Prime Minister says his government will do everything it can to secure the continuation of an F1 deal for the Sepang circuit, amid growing speculation the race could be canned.

"The race has been a key tool for the government in enhancing the country's image and the promotion of Malaysia as a leading international tourist destination," he was quoted as saying by Autosport.

The current Malaysian Grand Prix deal expires in 2010.
