Yamamoto joins GP2 series
18 January 2007Super Aguri test driver Sakon Yamamoto will not only busy himself at the Japanese Formula 1 team in 2007. The Japanese driver today announced that he came to an agreement with GP2 team BCN Competicion.
Sakon Yamamoto was obviously thrilled to continue his racing career. He said: "I am now very happy and excited about challenging in such a competitive category as GP2 for this 2007 season. I would like to thank all the people having supported me for realizing this opportunity. I will do as much as I can to fulfill the role in my position and I am looking forward for driving a GP2 car, I just can´t wait for the forthcoming test!"
Enrique Scalabroni (BCN Competicion Principal Director) said: "Myself, Jaime Pintanel and the whole team are looking forward for a very successful GP2 Series Championship and all our efforts are spent along this way, this is why we chose Sakon as our driver. In the forthcoming two weeks we will announce the name of Yamamoto's team-mate."
