Heidfeld not automatically team leader

22 January 2007

Nick Heidfeld says just because he's the most experienced driver on the BMW Sauber F1 team's books, he's not automatically the team leader.

"Positions have to develop," Heidfeld said. "I belive it hardly ever works to assign specific roles beforehand. Obviously I'm the driver with the most experience and I hope the team and the younger drivers will benefit from that."

"Nevertheless, Robert and Sebastian have also covered considerable mileage," he added. "Robert and I will battle it out on track but that doesn't mean that we don't get on well when we're out of our cockpits. I've never had problems with any of my team mates."
