BMW team principal Mario Theissen has given his backing to the new format for Grand Prix Fridays. The two practice sessions on Friday will no longer be subject to the 'one-engine for two GP weekends' rule, and will be 90 minutes in length which means teams can do some serious testing.
"I think it's a major step forward," Theissen said. "I always supported the plan to turn Friday into a day of extenive testing. This way the spectators get more on-track action, we're doing something more for the sponsors and promoters - and for the teams its always better to test on a track where you'll be racing two days later."
