Abu Dhabi F1 Grand Prix confirmed

At the Abu Dhabi Formula 1 street event this weekend the organisers have confirmed they signed a deal with Bernie Ecclestone to organise a Formula 1 race from 2009. Ecclestone's FOM confirmed they signed a seven-year deal with Abu Dhabi.

At a press conference in Abu Dhabi Bernie Ecclestone said about the upcoming Abu Dhabi F1 Grand Prix: "We are very committed to Abu Dhabi. This is one of the great places in the world. We have signed a seven-year contract, but I'm sure the race will go on forever."

The organisers of the race promised it will become the most luxurious venue on the Formula 1 calendar. Ecclestone is certain the track, which will be designed by Hermann Tilke, will be one of the best F1 tracks in the world: "The Tilke Group has learned its lesssons from the other F1 tracks it built in the past. We consider it will offer the best Formula 1 racing in the world."
