Managing director Daniel Audetto says Super Aguri are set to pursue legal action against Spyker following Giedo van der Garde's move to the Silverstone-based squad. Spyker announced the Dutchman as its third driver only a day after he tested for Super Aguri, with whom he signed a contract at the end of 2006.
Van der Garde's first and only test with Super Aguri was limited to just a handful of laps at Valencia because of a disagreement over the extent of his commitment.
"Giedo was supposed to complete 300 kms for his F1 superlicense, but we had to limit his run to just a few installation laps because his representatives didn't stick to the commitments they had with us on time," Audetto told Autosprint magazine.
Indeed, Audetto insists Super Aguri has a valid contract with van der Garde, and the team are prepared to take the matter to court.
"What Spyker have done, however, is inexplicable. Van de Garde signed with us a month ago and the contract was given to the FIA office in Geneva. It is a valid contract and we are prepared to take legal action," he added.
