Toyota made the most of the poor weather conditions at Jerez this week to just put more miles on the new transmission system in Jarno Trulli's TF107.
"With such bad weather, we had to adapt our programme and we looked at car set-up in wet conditions, as we as gaining more data about the behaviour of the extreme wet tyres," explained Toyota test team manager Gerd Pfeiffer. "One of the main points was to run checks on the transmission update we were testing and Jarno did a lot of laps without any trouble. He brought in some useful information which we will now analyse."
Trulli added, "We put a lot of mileage on the transmission update which is good. With the update we just wanted to do as many laps as possible to learn about how it performs. We could not optimise our lap times because of the wet track but we at least got a lot of information which was the only real target."
