BMW motorsport director Mario Theissen says that his team has made progress this winter and is closing the gap to the top teams.
"We believe that on a lap time basis we've already made some good progress," Theissen said. "We've cut the gap of the original Sauber team by half last year and we want to cut it by half again this year in order to be really strong in 2008."
"However, we have to see what our competitors can achieve," he added. "It's hard to make predictions for the season at this point."
"The gap between us and the leading teams is still rather big," he added. "It was quite big last year, but it's closing from both sides - each point we win is one they lose, so I hope we can make a significant step forward this year."
