Klien still working on F1 race return

Klien still working on F1 race return

13 February 2007

After three years of racing for Formula 1 teams Jaguar and Red Bull Racing it is time for a new challenge for Christian Klien. The Austrian joined Honda F1 at the start of this season as the team's official test driver. However, Klien is hoping for a return to racing in Formula 1 after his year of testing at Honda.

On Monday Christian Klien completed his first laps in Honda's new car. The 24-year-old said he is enjoying his stay with the Japanese team. "I enjoy myself a lot here at Honda," Klien told GPUpdate.net. "Obviously Honda is a top team, but I really want to win races and the world championship one day. I try to help the team as much as possible with my three years experience in Formula 1."

Speaking about his personal goal in Formula 1 Klien said about his career: "I think It's a small step back to take two steps forward. Fore sure I want to win races, that's very clear, but a step back to be a test driver in a top team is not a bad thing and I think I can learn a lot of new things. If I do a good job and work together with the team, there's always a chance of a comeback."

Speaking about his first outing with the Honda RA107 Klien said: "The new car is definitely an improvement, but we still have some things to sort out. We will have to do some more set-up work. We tested some new parts on the car and the differences between the old car."
