Alonso, who moved to McLaren this winter, has said he expects a tough fight with more than just one or two other F1 teams. "You can see that our competitors are also very strong," said Alonso. "There is hardly any gap between the teams, maybe just a few hundredths of a second. I think 2007 will be a very interesting championship."
"There are about five teams who could win a race I think. BMW, Renault, Ferrari could win. I think Honda is a little bit behind perhaps at this moment. Nobody knows what is going to happen because there is a different team on top of the time sheets every day. We just have to wait and see what happens at the first race."
"It will be important to us to be among the top four or five cars. We must try to cover as many miles as possible to improve the car's reliability."
Fernando Alonso was the third fastest driver on Monday, and fourth on Tuesday. Today, Wednesday, he hopes to finish McLaren's week of testing at Circuit de Catalunya with an improved car.
