Bridgestone confirmed that it will mark its softer compounds this weekend for the Australian Grand Prix. The Japanese tyre manufacturer, sole supplier to the Formula 1 teams, will place a solid white circle on the softer compounds. The white circle will have a diameter of 3 centimetres.
During the off-season a lot has been said about tyre marking. It could make Formula One more exciting for F1 fans if they could actually see what team would use what type of compound. A Bridgestone spokesperson explained to GPUpdate.net: "Bridgestone has brought two different compounds to Melbourne this weekend. A medium compound and a soft compound. The soft compound will be marked with a solid white circle with a diameter of three centimetres."
It has yet to be seen whether we will see the tyre markings again at the next race in Malaysia. "There has not been a decision taken yet whether we will use this type or marking for the rest of the season. We will use it at the Australian Grand Prix and after the weekend we will evaluate it with the teams first."
