Vettel reflects on season opener

21 March 2007

BMW Sauber's young test and reserve driver Sebastian Vettel is a happy man after last weekend's season opening Grand Prix in Australia. Vettel saw the BMW team perform strongly and himself got to grips with Albert Park in Friday practice.

"We witnessed a thrilling Grand Prix at the very start of the new season here in Melbourne - and a successful one for the BMW Sauber F1 Team," Vettel said. "The fourth place secured by Nick Heidfeld confirms the good performances we have delivered in pre-season testing. It's great that Nick achieved this result on his own merits, without benefiting from any retirements or other drivers' problems."

"As for my own weekend, it was just fantastic to have the chance to go out on the track in the free practice session on Friday," he added. "The conditions were anything but easy. It was wet early on, and then the track started to dry. But it was a lot of fun. Every new circuit represents a challenge."
