Former F1 champion Emerson Fittipaldi says Lewis Hamilton is unlikely to win a Grand Prix in his maiden F1 season despite finishing a strong third in his debut Grand Prix at Australia.
"This season will be a learning process and we shouldn't expect to see him winning races," Fittipaldi told the BBC. "After Melbourne I expect he'll be happy with a few more podium finishes."
Fittipaldi won his first F1 title at the age of 25 in 1972 and at the time he was the youngest ever champion. Alonso managed it one year earlier when he took his first title in 2005.
"Alonso is a brilliant driver and Hamilton will be able to learn a lot from him," Fittipaldi added. "It will also give him a great benchmark - if he can keep up with Alonso he can keep up with anyone."
