Honda is aiming to make a big step forward at the start of the European F1 season and raise its game to be able to compete with Renault and BMW. Honda endured a dismal start to the new season, its cars languishing far down the grid in Australia and according to team boss Nick Fry it will not be until the Spanish Grand Prix in May that things will get much better.
"We've set ourselves the target of being up there with Renault and BMW by the start of the European season," Fry was quoted as saying by Autosport. "Last year it basically took us until the halfway point of the season to sort ourselves out and there's no excuse for us not to be much closer by the time we get to Europe."
"Maybe the parts we have for Sepang will address the issue, or maybe they won't," he added. "I wouldn't be able to say honestly that we fully understand what the issues are with the car at the moment and that's what we have got to do."
