Barrichello: Still a lot of work to do

31 March 2007

Rubens Barrichello completed a two-day test programme in Malaysia this week with the Honda F1 team. The Brazilian demonstrated good pace on the first day when he set the fourth fastest time. He realises though that there is still a lot of work to do to close the gap on the top teams.

Looking back at this week's test Barrichello said: "We had a very busy programme in Sepang this week to work on the car and improve it from Australia. Aero work was the main focus along with controls systems comparisons where we have found some new direction."

Honda had a difficult race in Melbourne. Its drivers Barrichello and Jenson Button finished 11th and even as low as 15th respectively. The team who claimed its first victory last season in Hungary is not happy with where it is standing at the moment. Barrichello admits the team made some progress but it won't be the final step that closes the gap to Ferrari and McLaren. "The new aero parts have given us some positive results in improving the balance of the car and the consistency but we know that we have a lot of work still to do," he said.
