Bridgestone has decided on which tyre marking it will use to distinguish the two different tyre compounds for the Malaysian Grand Prix. The Japanese tyre-manufacturer has chosen to mark the softer tyres with a white line running around the outside of the tyre in between the grooves.
Different tyre markings were tested at the recent Sepang test, including a red dot on the edge of the trye. The original marking at the Australian Grand Prix was a painted white dot but this proved to be not sufficiently visible.
Kees van de Grint, Bridgestone Motorsport Head of Track Engineering Operations revealed: "We have found a better solution by marking the bottom of the second from inside tyre groove white. This has received a positive response from teams and onlookers at the test. It is time consuming to apply to the tyres but is clearly visible on track."
