Lewis Hamilton may have qualified on the front row of the grid for the Bahrain Grand Prix, but was confident he could have taken pole position, had he not made a mistake in turn one on his final flying lap.
"My last lap wasn't that great to be honest - it was tough and qualifying is intense and you need to pull out absolutely everything on that last lap," Hamilton said after qualifying. "I think I lost a bit in the first turn and a little bit more in turn 13 where there was a bit of wind, but still to get a second I'm very happy for the team and looking forward to the race tomorrow."
"Coming here we've had two extremely good races and we're extremely competitive where it's very close at the front. To go into my third race in F1 and be on the front row is an amazing thing," he concluded.
Team mate Fernando Alonso ended a couple of tenths down in fourth place.
