Fernando Alonso blamed a lack of grip and poor balance on his McLaren for his struggling race in Bahrain today. Alonso did jump up to third at the start, but spent the rest of the afternoon fighting off challenges from Raikkonen and Heidfeld. He eventually lost out to both and finished fifth.
"I wasn't competitive today and I wasn't able to have the right pace and the goal is always to be on the podium and today I didn't achieve that," Alonso said. "I had not enough confidence in the car. The overall grip was quite poor, I had oversteer and understeer all the way through the race and it was difficult."
