McLaren team boss Ron Dennis was not too unhappy after the Bahrain Grand Prix where his drivers Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso finished second and fifth. Ferrari cut McLaren's lead in the constructors' championship to five points.
Dennis however was just delighted with another strong drive from rookie Lewis Hamilton.
"He had a great drive and we didn't do a perfect job or get the tyre right on the option tyre in the middle stint and that's where we lost the race," Dennis said. "The strategy was right, but it's a great start to the season and a great drive from Lewis and we'll go to Spain in good shape. He did a great job and closed on Massa - I think Massa was pushing all the way to the flag."
"Strangely enough we did a better job on the prime tyre, but that's life," he added, referring to the better pace his drivers showed when on the harder tyre in the short final stint of the race. "We have a lot of developments coming before Spain and we'll see how much quicker we'll be there."
