McLaren team boss Ron Dennis has backed Lewis Hamilton as an 'unique' talent that even he could not have predicted when he decided to give the young British driver his F1 debut.
"What we're seeing from Lewis is something unique and it couldn't be predicted," Dennis was quoted as saying by The Sun newspaper. "It could not be predicted. Look at what he says, how he says it and how he conducts himself as well as the results. His results say it all and it doesn't need me to put superlatives on it,"
"He'll keep his feet on the ground - what you see is what you get," he added. "He has enough brownie points in his pocket now to afford to lose some without severe criticism. We've dried to keep the pedestal low because inevitably something will happen and he'll fall, or hopefully just step off it. All drivers make mistakes, but at the moment he can't do anything wrong."
