Briatore - F1 races still boring

01 May 2007

Renault team boss Flavio Briatore says rule changes designed to spice up F1 races have not worked. He insists that the F1 races remain usually boring. He had suggested the format of GP weekends changed to include two shorter race on a Sunday with a different grid format to encourage overtaking.

"Normally it's boring," Briatore was quoted as saying by the BBC. "The changes have done nothing for the show. A 90-minute race is too long because usually the last 30 minutes are really boring."

"Every time there's excitement it's because something happened outside, or because it's suddenly raining or there's an accident or something like that," he added. "I still don't understand why we don't try to make excitement in every race."
