Vitantonio Liuzzi says he is content with the Red Bull driver hierarchy and that he feels at home with Red Bull's sister team Toro Rosso. Red Bull is unique in that it owns two teams on the F1 grid, with Gerhard Berger sharing ownership of Toro Rosso. Following Dietmar Mateschitz's comments in the press that he is keen to go with a blend of youth and experience in his Red Bull driver line-up for the future, speculation increased that the young Liuzzi might be in the frame for promotion.
Liuzzi admits that he expected Toro Rosso to be in a better position than it is now but he is cautious about his expectations of a drive with the senior team.
"Inside the Red Bull world, we don't see a team one or a team two," the Italian said.
"I'm happy to work with Toro Rosso because it's a totally Italian group. For sure, this year we've had this disadvantage of no testing and we started with this big handicap. I felt ready to have a strong season when the team was ready to have a good car, but now we are both struggling and we are having good times and bad times and at the moment we are struggling. But regarding the step into Red Bull, I don't know if it will happen."
Despite the uncertainty surrounding his future, Liuzzi is in any case happy to stay loyal to Red Bull as he feels he owes a lot to them as a product of the Red Bull young driver scheme.
"I'm happy to be with Toro Rosso and I'm anyway happy to be in the Red Bull world because they have supported me for many years and I want to give back the help that they've given me in the past," he added.
