Alonso - it was over after the first corner

Fernando Alonso was visibly unhappy finishing third in his home Grand Prix. The Spaniard tried to put a move on Massa around the outside of turn one, but they touched and Alonso was pushed into the gravel, losing three positions.

"Unfortunately it wasn't enough and I lost three places," Alonso said. "From there on if you are in fourth with a little bit less fuel than your opponents and your race becomes impossible."

Alonso has now slipped to second in the drivers' championship, two points behind team mate Lewis Hamilton and one point ahead of Felipe Massa.
