Ecclestone compares Hamilton to Schumacher

13 May 2007

Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone believes Lewis Hamilton is very similar to seven-times F1 world champion Michael Schumacher. He doesn't think though Hamilton will win the world championship already in his debut season.

Speaking about Formula 1's latest hype Ecclestone said: "He's a nice guy, a really good guy and super for the sport. He is doing a great job, and doesn't seem to be putting a foot wrong. He's got a lot of talent and will be a winner. If you look at him and put Michael Schumacher's helmet on him, you would think it was Michael."

But Ecclestone doesn't expect Hamilton to win the championship already in his first season in Formula 1. He said: "Not this year. I think it would be asking too much. I wouldn't want people to start talking about that as we don't need to put him under that much pressure do we?"
