Hamilton takes 'dream' championship lead

Lewis Hamilton has become the youngest driver ever to lead the F1 drivers' championship after his second place finish in Spain took him two points clear of Alonso at the top of the table.

"I keep saying I'm living my dream and it's so true," said the 22-year-old. "To come into my fourth Grand Prix and leave leading the championship driving against the best drivers in the world is unbelievable."

"I think going into the race we knew we had a very good strategy," he added. "At this track you can't really overtake and it was about getting as many places as possible in the first corner. Fortunately I got past Kimi and with Fernando and Felipe when Fernando came back he almost hit me but it was ok. We'll get Ferrari soon."

Hamilton ran longer in both the first and second stints of the race than Massa, but it was not enough to get him ahead.

"Felipe had built up quite a big gap by the time of the pit stops and I knew I'd get some time back pitting later but it wasn't enough," he added. "We did struggle in the middle stint with some oversteer but in the end I think we had a very good pace with similar times to Felipe so it was good."
