
Spanish media group Mediapro has purchased the Formula 1 broadcasting rights in Spain from 2009 until 2013 the company announced. Telecinco and TV3 are the current TV stations in Spain that have the right to broadcast Formula 1.
Since Fernando Alonso clinched his first F1 world championship in 2005 the TV audience in Spain has been growing rapidly. Last weekend's Spanish Grand Prix had over 6 million viewers, which is 47 percent of the market Mediapro revealed.
