Mechanical problems for Albers

Mechanical problems for Albers

18 May 2007 / Results / Photos

On Thursday the Spyker F1 team continued testing with Markus Winkelhock in the morning and Christijan Albers in the afternoon. Winkelhock completed 226km but Christijan Albers was able to cover only 16 laps as his day ended early due to a mechanical problem.

It was bad luck for Christijan Albers on Thursday. The Dutchman travelled to the South of France to prepare the team's car for the Canadian Grand Prix. On Tuesday and Wednesday the team focussed on the Monaco set-up, but Thursday was mainly planned to work on Canada. Albers was obviously disappointed. "I could only do a handful of laps this afternoon on old tyres so it was very difficult to get some information," he said. "Markus did a lot of laps in the morning, so I was hoping to follow on from this, but we had a problem and had to stop.

"It was a real shame as it was so positive yesterday and I think we could really have got into the 1.30s with new tyres and low fuel, which would have made us much more competitive compared to the others."
