Bernie Ecclestone has suggested that the Australian Grand Prix may have to become a night race, if it is to keep its place on the F1 calendar. At the heart of this is Ecclestone's desire that the Australian Grand Prix should be held at an hour of day that would make it easier for European audiences to watch.
Melbourne's current contract ends in 2010 and Ecclestone told the Sunday Herald Sun newspaper that key to the negotiations was sorting out the night race.
