The organisers of the Malaysian Grand Prix are considering to organise the race at night. The organisers admitted in the Malaysian media that a night race could be staged at the Sepang International Circuit.
Sepang International Circuit (SIC) chairman Datuk Mokhzani Mahathir told Malaysian news agent Bernama: "The FIA wants us to be prepared to stage night races as well as carry out some upgrading works at the circuit. We are actually studying what kind of light that would be suitable, the security aspects, which will certainly be our top priority, and a few other things before anything can be firmed up."
The government has pledged support for the extension of the contract for another five years and we have started resurfacing parts of the circuit while other upgrading works willl be carried out in stages."
Bernie Ecclestone has already warned the organisers of the Australian Grand Prix that they could see F1 leave Australia if the race will not soon be held at night. Ecclestone hopes to win more European TV viewers with races at night.
