Coulthard blames poor communication

David Coulthard has said he never knew Renault driver Heikki Kovalainen was on a fast lap in Saturday's qualifying session. Coulthard admitted there was a misunderstanding with the team, as he would have moved over if he knew the Finn was on a flying lap.

Coulthard said about the incident that caused him to lose his qualifying time: "I didn't know Kovalainen was on a timed lap or else, quite clearly, I would have got out of the way. I did communicate with the team to find out what was happening with the traffic around me, but there was a misunderstanding so I didn't get the correct information. It's disappointing as we were progressing well though out the sessions and I was pretty confident I could get the most out of the car."
