Having started the season slowly, things seem to be picking up for the Red Bull team as qualifying demon Mark Webber recorded the team's best qualifying result this year at the Monaco Grand Prix. The Australian not only made it into Q3 but was competitive, setting the sixth fastest time. Webber posted a 1:16.784s, which was just over a second slower than Alonso's pole-snatcher.
Mark Webber said: "The session went pretty well. I was having trouble getting into a good rhythm at the start to be honest, but as the session continued, I felt more comfortable with the car. It was a bit frantic in the last part of Q3 when there was a little bit of rain, but sixth is not bad so I'm looking forward to the start of the race tomorrow."
Team principal Christian Horner said of Webber's qualifying performance: "It was a good effort by Mark to qualify in our best grid position of the year so far. He's sixth on the grid and we believe we have a good strategy for him tomorrow."
