Mansell supports McLaren's strategy

Mansell supports McLaren's strategy

30 May 2007 / Results

Nigel Mansell believes Ron Dennis and his McLaren Formula 1 team didn't do anything wrong when the team decided there was no point seeing Hamilton try to overtake Alonso in the narrow streets of Monaco.

The former Formula 1 champion believes McLaren made the right move in Monaco by not risking a crash and keeping Hamilton behind the Spanish double world champion. Mansell said about the Monaco Grand Prix issue: "Their strategy was perfect. Alonso was running at a pace necessary to win and there was no point racing to the end because they had beaten all the opposition. Any team in that circumstance would have made the same call."

Damon Hill though didn't agree at all with Mansell. Read Damon Hill's opinion in our other news item.
