Tomita becomes Fuji Speedway chairman

31 May 2007

Toyota's Formula 1 Chairman and Team Principal Tsutomu Tomita will become the new Chairman of Fuji Speedway the Cologne-based team announced today.

As announced on in April, Tomita will stand down from his role at Toyota Motorsport at the end of June to be replaced by current Vice Chairman Tadashi Yamashina. Tomita, 63, will take over as Chairman of Fuji Speedway, which hosts the Japanese Grand Prix this year for the first time since 1977.

Tomita commented about his new assignment: "I am looking forward to taking up my new role at Fuji Speedway. I would like to thank everyone at Toyota Motorsport and of course our partners for their encouragement and support during my time with the team in Formula 1. I am moving on to a new challenge with Fuji Speedway so I will continue to be involved in Formula 1. The Japanese Grand Prix is returning to Fuji Speedway after 30 years and I am sure we will host a successful event. I particularly hope to see the Toyota team achieve great things at Fuji Speedway."
