Former Formula 1 driver Tiago Monteiro has scored his first two podium positions in the WTCC series. In only his third WTCC weekend Monteiro finished third in both races on Sunday.
At the Pau circuit, Monteiro moved up to ninth in the championship standings after clinching two third places. "I am very happy about this first podium," Monteir said after his race. "I didn't take too many risks in getting the first podium, which is payback for all of SEAT's hard work."
Tiago Monteiro enjoyed two seasons in Formula 1. In 2005 the Portugese driver raced at Jordan F1 and enjoyed a third place at the US Grand Prix. In 2006 Monteiro remained at the Silverstone based team when it was called MF1 Racing. This season Monteiro was unable to come to a deal in Formula 1 but he hopes to make his return in 2008.
