Alonso still confident

Alonso still confident

14 June 2007

Fernando Alonso is not too worried after Sunday's Canadian Grand Prix result. The Spaniard finished in seventh and is now eight points behind on F1 championship leader and team-mate Lewis Hamilton.

Alonso remains confident even though he had his worst race of the season. The Spaniard realises there are still many races to complete before the championship is decided. "Canada was a tough and frustrating race for me, but at least I left Montreal with some points and am in a strong second position in the Championship, which is not won or lost in one race," he said. "I am in a good situation in the table, the car is great, it is definitely capable of winning races and I am looking forward to getting back out on track in America and hopefully having no safety cars."
