According to Suresh Kalmadi, President of the Indian Olympic Association, India will host its first Formula 1 race in 2009. Apart from Abu Dhabi and Singapore the race in India would be another country that will be added to the calendar.
Formula 1 is moving out of Europe to host more and more races at new venues. According to Reuters Mr. Kalmadi said at a news conference today: "We have received a letter in this regard from Bernie Ecclestone, CEO of Formula One. The IOA will be the promoter, the first event of which will be held in 2009."
