Marc Gene linked with Toro Rosso
19 June 2007Ferrari test driver Marc Gene has been linked with a seat at the Scuderia Toro Rosso team, currently using Ferrari engines in the F1 championship. According to Spanish newspaper Marca the Spaniard will be racing with the Faenza based team next season.
The Spanish newspaper has said that the Italian Toro Rosso team will most likely use Ferrari's chassis and engine next season and thus Ferrari test driver Marc Gene was easily linked. The rumour though spread by the Spanish media should be seen as one of the traditional rumours during the silly season.
Marc Gene completed his last Grand Prix in 2004 at Williams. In 1999 and 2000 Gene was Minardi's race driver and even scored one point in the 1999 European Grand Prix with a sixth position. At the end of the 2005 season Minardi was sold and renamed Scuderia Toro Rosso for 2006.
