Ferrari's former technical manager (and still current employee) Nigel Stepney has denied allegations of sabotage against the Italian team after a complaint was filed with a court in Modena last week. Stepney made no secrets of the fact his relationship with Ferrari was hitting the rocks and this latest episode shows how bad things have got for the British engineer.
"I'm confident I'll be cleared by the legal process that's now happening," Stepney told The Sunday Times as he spoke out for the first time on the latest development. He has not yet been formally charged with anything, Ferrari has just initiated a legal action.
"It's part of a dirty tricks campaign and everything is in the hands of my lawyer, so we'll see what happens," he added.
Stepney joined Ferrari in 1992 as a chief mechanic and was until recently the technical manager and a key part of the team's operation at every Grand Prix weekend. Last year he was moved to a new factory-based role.
