Raikkonen savours sweet taste of victory
01 July 2007 / Results / PhotosKimi Raikkonen was for the first time since the season opening race in Melbourne full of smiles at the end of the French Grand Prix having snatched a second win of the season, and the eleventh of his career from team mate Felipe Massa.
"Finally the start worked for me which helped a lot," Raikkonen said. "The car was good all the time, not exactly perfect but I was happy with it. I just had to keep up with Felipe because I knew I'd be stopping later and in the second stop I managed to get in front of him. I was a bit further behind than I wanted to be at the second stops so I had to push really hard and it worked out. I couldn't ask for more."
"We've had a bit of a hard time the past two months but I always expected that and it's a bit difficult when you don't get good results so we just worked hard to get the car right," he added. "We're still not right where we want to be but definitely a lo happier with the car since the last test."
